What's wrong with that we hear you ask? Well, unfortunately for the King of Pop, the award didn't actually exist. The confusion came when he was introduced by Britney Spears who called him her artist of the millennium. The 'Smooth Criminal' singer then gave a speech for an award he thought he'd won thanking God, his parents and magician David Blaine. Woops!
It was the last award of the night, the big one, the Album of the Year gong. Adele was about to make her thanks when comedian James Corden ran on to cut her short as the show needed to cut to Blur's performance. This resulted in Adele flipping the bird and a red-faced moment for James - who was gutted to have had to do the deed. The show was over-running and executives told him to pull the plug on the singer - who got her own back in 2013.
The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer ended her performance at MTV's Latin America Awards in spectacular style when she dived into a giant cake. Unfortunately, she then kept slipping and falling over on stage as she struggled to stay on her feet.
The 'Rolling In The Deep' singer was greeted by a Ukrainian journalist when she went to collect her prize at the ceremony. He took the mic and started accepting the award himself before being escorted away by security and eventually the police.

It was his first night on stage as frontman for Queen's tour and the former American Idol man suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. After making his way around the front row to say hello to fans, his leap back onto the stage caused his leather trousers to give way.
It was back in May 2013 and Justin was talking about his movie Inside Llewyn Davis when a reporter asked if he would ever make a return to music. A shocked JT, who had released 'The 20/20 Experience' by this point asked where the journalist had been. Even Justin's cast piped in after being left in disbelief by the questioning. We're sure he won't be making that mistake again.
The 'Gold Digger' star shocked the world when he took to the stage during Taylor's 2009 Best Female Video acceptance speech to reveal what he thought of the winning track. Kanye said it was his belief that Beyonce should have won, much to the horror of even Queen Bey herself, and it remains one of the most talked about VMA moments of all time.
Eagle eyed fans noticed an unusual dripping mark on Christina's leg when she performed at the funeral of musical legend Etta James. It was revealed that a spray-tan was the reason for the mark but the singer stayed focussed on her tribute as she performed 'At Last'.
If anyone ever asks you 'Do you want spaghetti and milk' and you're just about to walk on stage, say 'no way!'. It was revealed that the unusual combination was the reason Justin paused his concert to throw up as he performed on his 'Believe' tour. The trooper managed to continue his show and joked about the incident after the gig. Picture: Splash
The One Direction man was left red faced as his bandmate pulled the cheeky prank on him during their 'Take Me Home' UK tour. Harry attempted to pull his trousers up with one hand as he continued the rest of the track - with the rest of the boys in hysterics.
The singer was coming towards the end of a performance of his track 'Adorn' at the Billboard Music Awards 2013 when he decided to leap over a section of the crowd. Miguel calculated his jump slightly wrong and ended up falling straight on top of a fans' head. She was OK and even got to meet the singer backstage who was full of apologies.
You've heard of bottles being thrown but how about a business card? Well, the rapper was not happy with one audience member at his show in Washington back in 2011. He made such a fuss that the punter was thrown out because of endangering the rapper's life. "We risking our lives up here. You can't be throwing s*** that we gonna slip on," he said.
Beyonce has millions of fans all over the world...but this took the biscuit. The singer was performing on her 'Mrs. Carter Show' world tour when her long curls got caught up in a giant fan. Even a group of security couldn't free the singer quickly enough - so she carried on with her performance of 'Halo' regardless. What a trooper!
The singer won the Breakthrough Artist prize for her part in Precious at the ceremony and there were a few eyebrows raised over the nature of her speech. Mariah admitted to sipping a bit too much champagne and not eating enough as the reason for her slurred speech.
Back in 2010, the R&B star decided to bring a fan on to take part in a seductive routine, but the moment was lost when she accidentally kicked him in the head.
It's all happened to us right? Luckily for most of us, when we take a tumble in the street or at home there's not 10,000 with camera phones watching.
