With a slew of Big Top 40 number 1s between them, these rising talents made 2016 one of the most EPIC for hit music!

1. Zara Larsson
Having initially gained fame as a 10 year old after she won Sweden's version of Britian's Got Talent, Zara Larsson has gone on to have an amazing start to her music career. As well as winning an MTV EMA for 'Best New Act' in 2016, Zara also collaborated with the likes of MNEK, Tinie Tempah and David Guetta, proving that she's not only loved by her fans, but also her fellow artists too. 2. Sigala
The UK-based music producer has come a long way since studying music in London - his hits 'Say You Do', 'Sweet Lovin'', 'Give Me Your Love' and 'Easy Love' defined the sound of summer 2016. We're hoping for an album in 2017, so watch this space! (Pic: PA)

3. Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa was nominated for an MTV EMA, hit the Vodafone Big Top 40 with three huge tracks and, like Anne-Marie, collaborated with Sean Paul. Not bad for your breakthrough year. Her single 'Blow Your Mind (Mwah) was even featured in our Capital TV advert, so you've probably heard a lot of Dua Lipa in 2016. Dua even ventured out on her own 'Hotter Than Hell Tour', performing to packed out audiences across the UK - watch out 2017! (Pic: PA)

4. DNCE
Another #CapitalJBB act that really took off this year - DNCE, fronted by hunky Joe Jonas, have dominated charts around the globe with their debut hit 'Cake By The Ocean' - which was the fifteenth best selling song of the year! (Pic: PA)

5. Anne-Marie
2016 has certainly been a year to remember for Essex-born star Anne-Marie. Having guested on tracks from the likes of Rudimental, Magnetic Man and Wretch 32, this year saw Anne-Marie step out with solo material and she hasn't looked back since. Her single 'Alarm' took the Vodafone Big Top 40 by storm, but it was her collaboration with Clean Bandit and Sean Paul that really thrust the 25 year old into the spotlight. (Pic: Press)

6. The Chainsmokers
Alex & Drew may have found worldwide fame in 2014 with their #Selfie song, but it was 2016 that saw them truly dominate the EDM world. Two of their tracks - 'Don't Let Me Down' & 'Closer' - appeared on the Best Selling Songs of 2016 list, and they proved to be the most energetic act at our first ever Monster Mash-Up in Liverpool this Halloween. We can't wait to hear what the boys release in 2017. (Pic: Getty)

7. Calum Scott
After initially appearing on Britain's Got Talent, Calum Scott has become a bit of a chart mainstay this year with his debut single 'Dancing On My Own'. The single hit serious chart heights around the world and catapulted Calum to fame at breakneck speed. As well as a stunning performance at this Capital's Jingle Bell Ball with Coca Cola this year, Calum also performed at the closing ceremony of the Paralympics in Rio, marking a truly memorable 2016 for the newcomer. 8. Louisa Johnson
Winning the X Factor is no guarantee of success, but Louisa Johnson has had a pretty incredible start to her life as a popstar since winning the show. Her two debut singles reached lofty chart heights and she even collaborated with Clean Bandit on their fan favourite 'Tears'. Another artist who performed at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball with Coca Cola, Louisa's live performances have gained her rave reviews from both critics and fans. (Pic: Capital)

9. Jonas Blue
JB (no, not that one) came out of nowhere in early 2016 to provide one of the year's biggest dance tracks. 'Fast Car' spend two weeks at the top of the Vodafone Big Top 40 in July, and his follow up singles sounded just as hot when he has the whole O2 Arena jumping at 2016's Jingle Bell Ball.

10. Lukas Graham
Danish folk rockers Lukas Graham (they're a band named after the lead singer, FYI) had the fourth best singing single of 2016 with '7 Years'. The emotional ballad topped the Big Top 40 chart for an impressive 6 weeks in early 2016. (Pic: Andy Hughes)

11. Kungs
Another internationally renowned DJ that made an appearance in 2016 was Kungs. The French producer clocked a mighty 4 weeks at the top of the Big Top 40 earlier this year with his debut hit 'This Girl', alongside Cookin' On 3 Burners. (Pic: PA)

12. Cruz Beckham
We thought this list was all wrapped up, until cheeky 11-year-old Cruz Beckham's cheeky face popped up in our studio! The multi-talented high schooler released 2016's best new Christmas track in December, and all the proceeds from 'If Everyday Was Christmas' go straight to Global's Make Some Noise Charity. Awww!
