We're just days away from one of the music industry's biggest awards ceremonies. With Beyoncé and Adele leading the charge this year, we're taking a look back at some of the most successful acts who've walked away with the most Moonmen in VMAs history!
Madonna picked up her very first MTV VMA nomination for "Best New Artist" at the very first ceremony in 1984. She didn't get it, but she DID go on to become the Queen of the VMAs, with 20 Moonmen currently sitting in her (VAST) trophy cabinet. (Pic: Getty)
2016 could be a historic year for the VMAs! Queen Bey is only 4 Moonmen behind current champ Madonna, and with 11 of her 64 nominations occurring this year, this could boost Beyoncé to her rightly place at the top of our Hall Of Fame! (Pic: Getty)
While Madonna and Beyoncé may have taken home more Moonmen, Lady Gaga still holds the record for most nominations in a single year, with 13 nods in 2010. She won 7 of her nominated awards that year, and with new music rumoured to be coming later this year, we can imaging that haul will get even bigger in 2017! (Pic: Getty)
'Thriller' is pretty much the best video of all time... EVER! So we're not surprised at all that it won 3 awards at the very first VMAs in 1984! Jacko only managed to pick up another 8 awards between then and 1995, when 'Scream' bagged another 3 Moonmen for him. (Pic: Getty)
2002 was Eminem's peak year at the Video Music Awards, when 'Without Me' earned him 4 Moonmen. His most recent win was in 2014, when 'Rap God' picked up Best Editing. (Pic: Getty)
JT's anthemic 'Can't Stop The Feeling' is nominated for Song of Summer at this year's awards, which could take him level with Eminem with 12 awards. 2007 was his year, taking home 4 awards, including Male Artist of the Year and the one-off Quadruple Threat of the Year! (Pic: Getty)
School discos and under-18 club nights weren't the same in the early-noughties without a bit of Green Day - so it's no surprise that they walked out of the VMAs with 6 of their 7 nominated awards in 2005. (Pic: Getty)
The US pop 5-piece managed to pick up an impressive 7 awards in their time together, before reuniting for a special performance during the ceremony in 2013. 'Pop' was their biggest success, earning them 4 Moonmen in 2001. (Pic: Getty)
Mr Carter must have spent a lot of time at the VMAs working on his "pleased for you" face, as he's been nominated a huge 25 times and only picked up 7 awards... But with his wife to close to becoming the VMAs' most successful act ever, we're sure he enjoys the night anyway! (Pic: Getty)
While she might be one of the most memorable VMAs stars thanks to her performing with a snake and snogging Madonna, Britters has only actually won 6 Moonmen, and hasn't been nominated for an award since she won the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 2011. (Pic: Getty)
2015 was Taylor's year, when she walked away with the coveted Video Of The Year award for 'Bad Blood'. She was nominated for Best New Artist in 2008m, but lost out to Tokio Hotel (who?!). (Pic: Getty)
Pink's always been an unforgettable performer, and as well as making her mark with acrobatic prowess, she's also won 6 Moonmen; including Video of the Year for 2001's 'Lady Marmalade'. (Pic: Getty)
'Firework' was Katy's ticket to winning Video Of The Year back in 2011, where she also won Best Collaboration alongside Kanye West for 'E.T.'. (Pic: Getty)
It was a clean sweep for Chris Martin & co in 2003, when 'The Scientist' won all three awards it was nominated for. 2016 has the Brits nominated for another 3 awards, so watch this space! (Pic: Getty)
