Young girl seen walking along A60 in Nottinghamshire - but no children reported missing.
Three members of the public reported seeing a young child walking alone along the A60 near Cuckney this morning, around 8.30am
No child has been reported missing to either Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire Police.
But officers have carried out searches of the area to try and find the girl, who is described as white, aged between five and eight years old, wearing a pink coat and carrying a back pack.
One person reported seeing her close to the junction with Buskeyfield Lane, north of Cuckney, walking in the direction of Worksop. The other callers reported seeing her close to the turn-off for Creswell.
Police want to make sure the girl is safe and well, and want to hear from anyone who may know who the child is, or who believes they have seen the child on Thursday.
If the child has returned home, her parents or guardians are also urged to telephone Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire Police on 101 to confirm that she is safe.
They should be assured that the child's welfare is the most important issue to officers at this time and relatives should have no concerns about calling the police.
The Nottinghamshire incident number is 133 of 16 February.
