In the last 24 hours we hear jobs could go at Rolls Royce in Derby & Nottinghamshire County Council.
Union's have told Capital that job losses at Rolls Royce will hit Derby particularly hard.
2,600 jobs are expected to go, with claims up to 1,200 of those will be at the aerospace division in Sinfin.
Chief executive John Rishton also warned that further action may be needed as the company steps up its drive to improve operational efficiency:
'The measures announced today will not be the last, however they will contribute towards Rolls-Royce becoming a stronger and more profitable company.'
Unite Union on Rolls Royce Job Losses
Rolls Royce have told Capital jobs have to go to improve efficiency and reduce costs; they employ 12,000 people in the East Midlands.
More online services in Notts to save cash
Last night we were also told that nearly 500 jobs could be lost at Nottinghamshire County Council as they try to save £77m.
Council Leader Alan Rhodes reckons moving more services online, could help protect workers in the future.
