A Nottingham man has been jailed for deliberately crashing with a car with his ex-wife in, and then attacking her with a knife.

41 year old Zahier Bashir was handed a sentence of more than 10 years after he deliberately crashed into a car, which was being driven by his step-daughter, with his ex partner inside.

It happened in Hucknall Road on Sunday 1 April 2018.

Once the victim got out of the car, Bashir drove into her twice knocking her over, before attacking her with a knife, injuring her face and upper body.

Several passers-by stopped to help including a motorcyclist who deliberately rode into him to stop the attack.

The daughter also suffered injuries as she tried to protect her mum.

As well as being jailed, Bashir was also given a restraining order, and was given a six and a half year ban from driving as well as being ordered to take a retest.
