A man who attacked another man with a metal bar in Nottingham has been locked up for more than four years.

The victim suffered two broken arms, a broken foot and needed surgery after he was attacked by 22-year-old Gedion Obhiambo at a property on London Road on the night of 15 June 2019.

He was in his room when Obhiambo, of no fixed address, kicked his door in before repeatedly striking him with the bar.

Obhiambo, who appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing yesterday (Tuesday 23 July 2019) was jailed for four years and four months having pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detective Constable Helen Pannell said: "This was a vicious attack which left the victim with two broken arms, one which was shattered, and a broken foot after he was struck several times with the bar.

"We will not tolerate violent crime in our communities and I’m pleased that Obhiambo has now been taken off our streets."
