11 people were arrested and 87 searched after Leicestershire Police got intelligence about potential trouble which officers say they prevented.
Trouble Prevented
Leicestershire Assistant Chief Constable Phil Kay, told Capital:
'In August last year the Force signed up to the Government's Best Use of Stop and Search Scheme.
'The voluntary scheme aims to achieve greater transparency and community involvement in the use of stop and search powers. The scheme also encourages forces to tell people when there is a Section 60 authorisation in advance of the powers being used.
'As a result of the actions we took on Saturday (January 10) we were able to prevent serious disorder from taking place and allow law abiding supporters to enjoy the game.'
A 24 year old man was charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
