Capital spoke to around a thousand teenagers in the East Midlands to find out how they use Facebook.
A quarter of 15- 16 year olds admitted to having more than 20 friends on the Facebook they don't know, the main reasons why they added them was because they wanted to look more popular.
30% of them also said they have received inappropriate messages either via Twitter or Facebook, but 72% do believe security on the sites is good enough.
We showed our findings to various agencies across the East Midlands here's what they had to say.
