Woman dies two hours after burglary.
The victim had been ill for a while, and on the night of the incident she was being visited by relatives, as she wasn't expected to make it through the night.
Police believe the incident took place at a house in Blaby sometime around 12:20am on Saturday July 2.
Whist the family were upstairs with the victim someone entered the house and stole a number of items.
Amongst the items stolen were some car keys, an Apple iPad computer, cash, a Sony 32” flat screen television and Apple Powerbook laptop computer.
Detective Constable Louisa Letts is investigating the incident, she said: “Unfortunately the victim passed away two hours after the burglary and as well as the family trying to deal with the loss of a loved one their grief has been compounded further by the burglary.
“This was a sickening crime which has left the family extremely shocked and distressed.
“We need to find the people responsible and would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area to contact us. We are also keen to speak to or who knows someone who has recently acquired any of the stolen items.
“If you know who is responsible or you have been approached by someone selling any of the stolen items we would urge you to contact us. Any calls received will be treated in confidence.”
