Trouble in Birmingham

Detectives investigating the death of three men following a road traffic collision in Birmingham this morning (August 10) will today question a 32-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

It's understood the three man - aged 31, 30 and 20 - were on foot in Dudley Road in the Winson Green area of the city when they were in collision with a car. All later died from their injuries in hospital.

Officers arrested the man nearby and also recovered a vehicle which will be examined by forensics experts.

Elsewhere A number of shops were damaged and a car was set alight in Moor Street.

West Midlands Police continue to work closely with our partners and key members of the community to help calm tensions.

Contingency plans in place tonight which will see 400 dedicated officers working extended shifts across the West Midlands, who will be able to respond to any situation that may develop, in addition to local officers who will continue to serve and protect their communities locally.
