Man wanted in connection with Northfield Murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a 63-year-old Northfield man have released a picture of a man they urgently wish to trace in connection with the inquiry.

Florian Baboi, also known as Jildow, is wanted for questioning over the violent death of Mr David McArthur who was found beaten to death on Monday 22 August at his home in Woodbrooke Grove, Northfield, Birmingham.

DI Wayne Jones, leading the investigation, said Florian Baboi was a Romanian national with connections to the West Midlands, particularly West Bromwich, and also to London. The last sighting of him was in the West Bromwich area.

"The motive for the attack on Mr McArthur is still unknown. The victim may have possibly known his assailant but all other lines of inquiry are being pursued," he said.

"What is clear is that Mr McArthur was subjected to a sustained and ferocious assault and we need to trace the offender.

"Anyone with information about Florian Baboi is urged not to approach him but to ring West Midlands Police Force CID on 0345 113 5000 or 999 should they know his whereabouts."
