Man Shot In Birmingham Drive-By Shooting

Police have told Capital they believe a drive-by shooting in Birmingham was a targeted attack.

A 19-year-old is in hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg and back after the shooting in Lozells Road.

Police say he's in a stable condition after they don't believe there is a threat to the wider community.

It is thought at this early stage that the shooting was a targeted attack and there is no threat to the wider community.

Inspector Richard Marsh, from Force CID, is currently leading the investigation. He said: "We’re very keen to hear from anyone who has information about those responsible.

"There may be people out there who feel uneasy about coming forward. I would reassure those individuals we have a range of special measures that we can use to support them."

Insp. Marsh added: "Firearms have no place on the streets of Birmingham. There must be no let-up in our approach to tackle gun crime and it remains an absolute priority for us.
