POLICE in Birmingham have released an image of a man wanted for failing to answer bail.

Wesley Jones, 26, was arrested in connection with a serious assault in which a 24-year-old doorman was left with a knife wound to his leg after refusing a man entry to a Digbeth club in June 2009. A second doorman was punched in the face.

Following his arrest, Jones was granted bail while officers followed-up other leads in their investigation.

Jones failed to answer his bail date and despite extensive enquiries, officers have so far been unable to locate him.

Detectives are today asking local people to help in their hunt.

DC Lee Bradley is leading the manhunt. He said: “Wesley Jones in wanted for failing to answer police bail in relation to a serious assault which saw one doorman stabbed and another punched in the face.

“Despite extensive enquires he has so far evaded our attempts to arrest him. Today, I am asking the public to help us locate him."

DC Bradley believes that Jones is still within the West Midlands region and is asking people to think locally.

“Perhaps people have seen Wesley Jones on the bus, in the gym or in their local pub. If so, we would like to hear them as soon as possible”.

Jones is described as mixed race, 6’4” tall and of large, muscular build.

Anyone who has seen Wesley Jones or knows where he is should contact DC Bradley on 0345 113 5000. Alternatively, people who do not wish to speak with police officers directly, can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
