Police in Redditch are investigating after a man tried to abduct a teenage girl.

The 15-year-old was walking on the 'black path' in Abberley Close, between 2.00am and 2.10am on Saturday 21 February.

She told West Mercia Police she was making a phone call when she was approached by a man who tried to grab her.

The girl suffered minor cuts and bruises to her face during the incident, but did not need to go to hospital.

Officers say the man is described as being black, in his 20s, of medium build with possibly a shaved head. He is described as having protuding cheek bones, big lips and blue eyes, and was wearing dark closing and a local accent.

Detective Inspector Tim Bower said: “We’re extremely concerned about this incident which has been traumatic for the victim but which could have been a lot more serious. We are very keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at this time or who saw anyone acting suspiciously.”
