CCTV pictures released of three men who threatened and attacked a man in Birmingham.

The gang grabbed the man and dragged him to a canal towpath off Gas Street on 9 July, before assaulting him to try and get his pin number. They then stole his bank cards.

The 40- year-old victim was approached by three men, who dragged him to the towpath and kicked him in the face and body, before trying to force him to tell them his pin number. They then threatened to stab him and stole his glasses, and wallet, before running off.

The attackers are described as three black men in their mid-twenties. One wore a grey hoodie and cap.

The man suffered swelling and cuts to his face and body following the assault.

DC Mark Timmins from Birmingham Central, said: “Officers investigating the attack have viewed CCTV and are now releasing these images in the hope someone will recognise the offenders and call us. This was a sustained and un-necessarily violent assault and I am appealing for anyone who has information or anyone who knows who the men are to come forward."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
