Tinie Tempah thinks he knows exactly why his album 'Disc-Overy' got the judges' approval.
The 'Pass Out' rapper reckons his album has the right balance to please most musical tastes.
"The album was like a taste platter," Tinie explained. "There's something on there for everybody.
"There's something for the trendy hipster kids, those influential in blog culture, people who want dance tunes or big pop radio hooks."
Tinie Tempah, renowned for his clever, catchy lyrics, says his main inspiration before finding fame was rapper Dizzee Rascal.
"Dizzee Rascal is the main reason why I got into this initially," he said.
"Seeing how he turned a small scene into popular chart success was inspiring."
The winner of the Mercury Prize will be announced on the evening of Tuesday 6th September, when Tinie's album will have to fight off competition from Adele and Katy B.
