Muse have also been linked the much-anticipated event at the Olympic Stadium this weekend.

The Spice Girls have continued to fuel rumours that they are set to perform at the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony, as Muse become the latest act linked to the event.

The closing ceremony has been titled, A Symphony of British Music, and organisers said it will "celebrate the fact that music has been one of Britain's strongest cultural exports over the last 50 years".

The Spice Girls were first linked to the spectacle at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday (12th August) last month, but have yet to confirm their involvement.

However, Victoria, Geri, Mel B, Mel C and Emma have fuelled speculation via Twitter, with Posh and Scary both tweeting that they were working with fashion designers on outfits.

Meanwhile, the NME has claimed that Muse will perform at the closing ceremony on Sunday. The band have written one of the official songs for London 2012, 'Survival'.

So far, George Michael is the only confirmed artist set to perform at the closing ceremony, while Take That, One Direction, Jessie J and Ed Sheeran are all rumoured to be performing.

As well as live performance, the organisers said the closing ceremony will also see the hand over to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic Games.

The closing ceremony also features the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame, which signals the end of the Games in London.
