The newly named rapper expresses an interest in the judging seat left by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.
Snoop Dogg, who recently announced that he now wants to be called Snoop Lion, has expressed an interest in joining the judging panel on American Idol.
US TV producers are currently trying to fill the judging position vacated by Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, who stepped down last month.
In an interview this week with the Associated Press via Huffington Post, Snoop Dogg said: "I'll do American Idol."
American Idol producers declined to comment on reports about potential future judges.
Jennifer Lopez also left the programme this summer, but has already been replaced on the show by Mariah Carey. The American Idol judging panel also features Randy Jackson.
Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg announced this week that he had a new name, Snoop Lion.
The rapper said his decision to adopt a new persona came after a spiritual awakening while recording his new album 'Reincarnated' in Jamaica'.
