Fans have defended Millie Bobby Brown, after an edited video of her surface, apparently using homophobic language directed at Shawn Mendes.

Millie Bobby Brown was just one of the hundreds of celebrities to attend this year's MTV Video Music Awards, and to see Shawn Mendes in his vest, performing his hit, 'In My Blood'.

She documented the entire night on her Instagram Story, however one user has edited the video for it to appear as if she was using homophobic language about the Canadian singer.

Fans have had to defend the Stranger Things actress after the video surfaced, with the caption reading "Just walked by Shawn Mendes, here's the sound of my *** detector going off".

This comes after the 14-year-old had to delete her Twitter account after becoming a homophic meme, back in June.
