The Gareth Malone-conducted choir beat The X Factor stars to the top spot.
The Military Wives Choir have gone straight in at number one on the Vodafone Big Top 40, beating this year's The X Factor winners Little Mix.
The all-female choir's rendition of 'Wherever You Are' was released after they appeared on the TV show, The Choir, hosted by Gareth Malone.
The track was written about their husbands and boyfriends serving in Afghanistan. They issued a thank you to fans on Twitter after topping the countdown.
Little Mix's cover of 'Cannonball' by Damien Rice went straight in at number two following their win on the TV talent show last week.
Elsewhere on this week's Vodafone Big Top 40, unsigned artist Alex Day's 'Forever Yours' charted at number four, while Rizzle Kicks were new at number nine with 'Mama Do The Hump'.
