The 'One Thing' singers surprised fans with covers of Amy Winehouse and Kings of Leon in their headlining tour set list.

One Direction kicked off their first headlining tour of the UK last night (22nd December) with a performance in Wolverhampton.

The 'Gotta Be You' singers took to the stage at the city's civic hall in front of around 2000 screaming fans, many of whom had waited hours to get into the venue.

One Direction performed a large number of tracks from their debut album 'Up All Night', which was released in November, including new single 'One Thing'.

The five-piece boy band also included several notable covers in their set including Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling', Gym Class Heroes' 'Stereo Hearts', Amy Winehouse's 'Valerie' and Kings of Leon's 'Use Somebody'.

Harry, Liam, Zayn, Louis and Niall rounded off their crowd-pleasing set with a rendition of Vodafone Big Top 40 number one single 'What Makes You Beautiful'.

The band continue their tour tonight (22nd December) at the O2 Apollo in Manchester.
