The 'We Can't Stop' star's father said he would have done the exact same thing himself.
Miley Cyrus has revealed that her dad Billy Ray told her he would have done the same thing as his daughter at the VMAs.
The 'We Can't Stop' singer came under fire for a raunchy routine, which included gyrating against Robin Thicke and being provocative with a giant foam finger.
Taking to her Twitter account, the singer revealed that conversation she had with her father.
"Mile, if twerkin woulda been invented.... And I had a foam finger.... I woulda done the same thang you did." – DAD," she wrote.
It was claimed that Billy Ray had cancelled a TV appearance on Piers Morgan's chat show after the event in order to avoid questioning over the performance.
He also spoke with Entertainment Tonight and said that Miley would always be his little girl.

The performance has seen several parody videos online but was also defended by star of the VMAs, Justin Timberlake.
The 'SexyBack' singer said that people should not be offended as the show has a history of controversial moments.
