McFly donned their pilot uniforms last night for the official switch-on of the Christmas lights at Heathrow before surprising staff and passengers with a secret gig.
After switching on the lights, McFly serenaded passengers and staff with hits such as Party Girl and Shine a Light from their new album, Above the Noise, for the first ever airport gig, as well as old favourites, including All About You and Star Girl.
The Christmas lights will remain on for the whole of the festive season during which time three million passengers are expected to fly through Heathrow with nearly half a million between Sunday 19th December and Friday 24th December alone.
McFly said: "We've performed in some weird and wonderful locations before, but Heathrow was really special. We were able to meet fans from all over the world and we're honoured that they stopped to share that magical moment with us."
Passenger John Casey said: "I just touched down from a ten hour flight and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw McFly performing at Heathrow. I'm a huge fan and have always wanted to see them live so this is better than any Christmas present."
