The 'As Long As You Love Me' singer has come under fire by the Californian Hamster Association for his actions.

Justin Bieber has been accused of animal cruelty after he handed a screaming fan his pet hamster earlier this month.

The 'Boyfriend' star handed over his pet, affectionately known as Pac, to an 18 year-old fan in Atlanta.

The female fan received some online abuse for the exchange, but now the Californian Hamster Association has hit out at Justin for the move.

A representative told TMZ: "Hamsters are fragile creatures that often succumb quickly to illness and death, especially when faced with sudden environmental change."

They continued: "The moment that hamster was handed off to a screaming girl in a harsh, frenzied environment was likely the moment it gazed at the short path to its doom."

This week has also seen Justin criticised by the Philipinnes congress for his comments and photoshopped images on boxer Manny Pacquiao.

The singer was seen making fun of the sporting star's recent defeat in the ring as he stuck up for friend and fellow boxing star Floyd Mayweather Jnr.
