Jessie J is the winner of this year’s prestigious BRIT 'Critics’ Choice' Award, with James Blake in second place and The Vaccines in third.

As the winner, Jessie J will perform at The BRITs Nominations Launch event on Thursday 13th January 2011 at IndigO2, inside the O2.  The launch event will be televised the following evening.

Jessie said of her win,’ This is epic! It has been a dream since I was a little girl to win a BRIT. I can't believe it's happened!’

The Critics’ Choice Award is for new British acts tipped for mainstream success in the forthcoming year.  In previous years it has been awarded to Ellie Goulding (2010), Florence and the Machine (2009) and Adele (2008). The Award is open to artists signed to a label who are set to release their debut albums in 2011.

For the second year running, the Critics’ Choice Award will be presented in association with War Child, an international charity that protects children living in the world’s most dangerous war zones. The BRITs have worked alongside the charity and the annual War Child gig, now in its third year, will subsequently be an official BRITs event held at London’s IndigO2.

Today also marks the final day for the Voting Academy to cast their votes for the winners of The BRIT Awards 2011
