The 'Under The Sun' singer says the opening night of the girl band's tour has been "emotional".

Cheryl Cole gave an emotional speech to fans at the first Girls Aloud arena tour last night in her home city of Newcastle, telling them there was "nowhere in the world" she would rather be.

The 'Something New' singer was seen getting emotional and teary with her bandmates during one of their final songs of the night on Thursday (21st February) as the girl band sang 'Stand By You', and stopped at the front of the stage to address the crowd before finishing with 'The Promise'.

"There's nowhere in the world I'd rather be right now," Cheryl told the Newcastle Arena audience. "Thank you so much for all your support.

"It's been an emotional evening but I wouldn't have wanted to share it with anyone else, so thank you.'
