The 'Next To Me' singer-songwriter says she has been writing music since a very young age.
Emeli Sande has revealed she wrote her first song at the age of seven about an alien looking for love on Earth.
The 'Heaven' singer is currently preparing for the release of her debut solo album, and says she often looks back on some of her early songs and 'cringes'.
"When I was seven or eight I wrote my first song and it was about an alien coming to Earth and looking for love," Emeli told the Daily Star this week. "It wasn't very good.
The 'Daddy' singer-songwriter, who won the BRITs 2012 Critics Choice Award, also recalled some friends stole the song to use it for a school talent show.
"I thought, if it was good enough to steal I must be quite good at it," she explained. "It was flattering I suppose, and we're all still friends now."
Emeli added: "The first song I wrote that I can listen to without cringing was when I was about 14 or 15."
Labrinth has revealed this week that he recorded a collaboration with Emeli on his upcoming album 'Electronic Earth'.
Emeli Sande will release her first album 'Our Version Of Events' on 13th February.
