Ed Sheeran Thanks Australian Fans For Debut Album Success

The 'Drunk' singer is celebrating after '+' has gone platinum in Australia.

Ed Sheeran thanked his fans in Australia for helping his debut album sell over 70,000 copies while popular single 'The A Team' has gone on to sell over 280,000 copies since its release.

The 'Lego House' singer-songwriter launched his first record in Australia last year and says he is pleased with the "good news".

"Happy to announce my album '+' has gone Platinum in Australia," Ed tweeted earlier today (5th March). "Big up the aussies.

"Oh, and also The A Team is now quadruple platinum in Australia," the 'Drunk' singer also revealed. "Good news today from the aussies. Yay dot com."

Ed is currently working on the follow-up to his 2011 debut '+' and has promised fans a "bigger sound" with more of a focus on guitar-based music.

Ed Sheeran is due to continue his current European tour tonight with a performance at Heimathafen in Berlin, Germany.
