The singer opens up about her music videos after being Certified by Vevo.

Britney Spears has revealed that the now infamous schoolgirl outfit she wore in the music video for '…Baby One More Time' was her idea.

The US singer spoke about the video for her debut 1999 single after being Certified by the music video website, Vevo.

Britney said it felt "surreal" filming her first music video, which generated huge debate at the time because it was set in a school.

"My first video was '…Baby One More Time'. I think I was 18 or 17 years old. I do remember somewhat of just the feeling of everything being so surreal, like you know, making your first music video, there's nothing like it," she said.

"It was my idea to do the whole schoolgirl outfit, and you know, us being at school and then having the dance numbers throughout it."

Britney, who has been Certified by Vevo after 'I Wanna Go' and 'Till The World Ends' both amassed more than 100 million views, said the process of making a music video is important for every artist.

Britney is presented with her Vevo Certified award:

She said: "I think understanding the video process is really important for all of us as artists because it's our one and only chance to really, really connect with the fans on screen, and for them to see us with our work and putting, you know, a picture and a song with a face."

Meanwhile, Britney recently hooked up with Black Eyed Peas stars Will.i.am for the single 'Scream And Shout'.
