Fans of Adele have started a #PrayForAdele hashtag on Twitter as the star continues to battle to overcome a throat problem.
Last week, Adele's record label XL Recordings announced that the star was cancelling the rest of her live dates in America and the UK for the rest of 2011 because she needed throat surgery.
Speculation over the severity of the '21' singer's voice troubles sparked a frenzy on Twitter last night (30th October) and this morning (31st).
Fans have been using #PrayForAdele to express their concern for the star, with one writing: "ugh. i just wanna hug adele. feel so sorry for her. #prayforadele :("
In a statement last week, XL said the star was due to undergo throat surgery to correct the throat problem, which has blighted her voice throughout the year.
"She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected," the statement said.
"As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitment."
A spokesperson for the star has yet to respond to Capital FM's request for comment on the unconfirmed Twitter rumours about the star's voice problem.
