Yorkshire Unemployment Down By 6,000

Unemployment in Yorkshire's dropped by 6,000 between June and August, according to new statistics out this morning

242,000 people are without a job in the region.

That figure is down by 11,000 compared to this time last year.

Nationally unemployment's down by 18,000 to 2.49 million.

It means the number of people in work has reached an all-time record high of almost 30 million.

Average earnings also increased by 0-point-7 per cent in the year to August - 0-point-5 down on the previous month.
