Scotland Yard has told Capital they have charged a man from York with computer hacking, thought to be connected with an attempt on Facebook.
The Met would not confirm any details of the allegations but a spokesman said Glenn Steven Mangham, 25, from York, had been charged with three counts of unauthorised access to computer material, contrary to Section 1(1) of the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
He has also been charged with unauthorised acts with intent to impair the operation of a computer, contrary to Section 3(1) of the same Act, and with making, supplying or obtaining articles for use in an offence under Section 1 or 3 - contrary to Section 3(A) of the Act.
Mangham is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on August 17.
