Two Die In 'Ferocious' Hull Fire

Two people have been found dead in a house fire in Hull.

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said the bodies of a man and a woman, thought to be in their 40s, were found by firefighters who entered a burning property in Montrose Street yesterday.

A spokeswoman said crews who responded to an emergency call at 5.45am on Saturday were faced with a severe blaze in the terraced house, which is about a mile from the city centre.

She said: "It was an extremely ferocious fire. Sadly two people were found dead."

The spokeswoman said an investigation had begun but it was at an early stage and she would not be able to release the cause of the blaze until later this week.
