Man Arrested In Leeds Over Shooting Of Teenager In Netherlands

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed a man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old boy in the Netherlands.

The 29-year-old was detained in Leeds on behalf of the Dutch authorities. He was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant and his extradition to the Netherlands has been requested.

West Yorkshire Police officers assisted in the arrest along with those from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) who are assisting the Dutch authorities in the investigation.

The arrested man appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London yesterday as part of the extradition process and was remanded in custody until May 3, a spokesman for Soca said.

A 24-year-old British man has also been arrested in Amsterdam in relation to the killing, which took place at a trailer camp on July 14 last year.

Danny Gubbels was shot in a caravan in the city of Breda, in the south of the country.
