Good News For Yorkshire Olympic Torchbearers

A lucky few in Yorkshire found out they've bagged the chance to carry the Olympic flame today.

2 people from Yorkshire got their first conditional offers today to carry the Olympic Flame next summer.

It's all part of the 70-day Olympic Torch Relay.

Simon Brown, from Morley in West Yorkshire, was nominated through Lloyds TSB's public nomination campaign.

The 32-year-old Soldier was blinded while fighting in Iraq and now spends his time helping young people come to terms with their loss of sight.

18-year old Paul Haygreen from Huddersfield is Yorkshire is the second torch carrier, he has type-2 Diabetes and has hopes of becoming a profession footballer.

They have until the 25th January to accept.

Candidates are selected by either public nomination, Olympic sponsors or through invitation.

The torch will be in our region next june.
