Campaigners Camp Out Over Welsh Language

16 June 2014, 17:25

Protestors are camped out the Senedd - asking the First Minister to take action to help promote the Welsh language.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith are asking the Welsh Government to bring in policies to promote Welsh - saying it's facing a crisis.

Robin Farrar speaks for the group. He said: "We are here insisting that they start to put in force things like Welsh education for everyone and clear language rights as well so everyone can know what services they can expect through the medium of Welsh."

"It seems it's only discussion we've seen so far.

"We haven't seen any real policy changes changes of direction or policy changes which are needed if we are going to see the language grow."

Campaigners are expected to stay outside the Senedd til tomorrow night.

First Minister Carwyn Jones is due to make a statement to AMs tomorrow about future policies relating to Welsh
