Winchester: Woman Arrested After Christmas Day Knife Robbery

31 December 2014, 12:01

Police in Winchester are investigating after a woman was threatened with a knife, assaulted and robbed on Christmas morning.

It happened between 8.30am and 9.30am on Thursday 25 December. A woman approached the victim, a 20-year-old woman, near St Catherine's Hill park and ride - and assaulted her and threatened her with a knife before stealing her phone.

The attacker had previously been seen near to the toilet block with a male friend. The pair had been speaking with another man who was walking a black and white sheepdog and was heading towards the Bar End park and ride car park.

Detective Constable Paul Harfield said:

“This area is popular with dog walkers and locals. Were you out first thing on Christmas Day? Did you see anything suspicious?

“I am keen to speak to the man who was out walking his dog and who may have spoken with the attacker and her friend.”

A 43-year-old woman from Winchester has been arrested in connection with this incident and bailed until 23 February 2015, pending further enquiries.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Harfield at Winchester CID on 101, quoting 44140457808, or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
