Police in Portsmouth are looking for a van driver who smashed a man's windscreen a road rage attack.

It happened in the area of Queen Street and Portland Street in the Portsea area, on Thursday 24 October at around 4pm.

A white van driver smashed the front windscreen of a black Audi A3 with a wheel brace, while the driver of the Audi was in his vehicle.

The van driver is then reported to have ripped off his own rear number plate to avoid being identified before driving away towards St. George's Square.

The driver of the black Audi was left very frightened and alarmed by the aggressive actions of the van driver.

Police say there were a lot of people in the area at the time as many university students were leaving after lectures. Officers are asking if anyone knows someone who has a van with no rear number plate, or has recently bought a new one.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 3215 Matthew Tyson at Southsea Police Station by phoning 101, or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111. Minicom TextRelay users can call 18001 101.
