Police are investigating the theft of groceries valued at around £350 from the Tesco supermarket in Sizer Way, Dibden, sometime between 7.30 and 8pm on Tuesday, October 23.
Two women entered the store and filled a trolley with groceries. One of the women then distracted a security guard and while he was away from his security desk, her accomplice left the store with the trolley of goods which had not been paid for.
The woman who left the store with the trolley is described as:
-Aged between 40 and 65 years
-Around 5 ft tall
-Plump build with large stomach
-Long dark hair pulled back into a pony tail
-She wore black leggings and a cream knitted jumper
Her accomplice who distracted the security guard is described as:
-Aged late teens/early twenties
-Long dyed black hair which was pulled back
-She black leggings with a white t-shirt and a silver cardigan and had false eye-lashes
PC Heather Barrow who is investigating the incident said:
"This was a pre-planned theft operation where a security guard was deliberately distracted whilst a criminal associate made off with in excess of £350 worth of goods. When the security guard challenged the distracting female he was bombarded with a torrent of abuse from her and both women managed to leave the store before police arrival."
