Driver Charged After Teenagers Killed In Lyndhurst Crash

Police investigating the deaths of two young women, after a crash in Lyndhurst, have charged the driver.

19-year-olds Lily Butterfield-Godwin and Abbey Rogers died after a Mazda RX8 sports car they were in hit a wall early on Saturday 13 December 2014.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said:

"A man has been charged following the deaths of two women in a collision in Lyndhurst last year.

"In the early hours of Saturday, December 13, a car collided with a wall on Gosport Lane.

"Lily Butterfield-Godwin, 19, and Abbey Rogers, 19, both from Lyndhurst, died as a result.

"Following a police investigation, 21-year-old James Jack Battrick, from Cadnam, was charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving while unfit through drugs and two counts of causing death by careless driving while over the prescribed limit of alcohol.

"He is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on April 23."
