Two Killed In Separate Hampshire Collisions

Two people have been killed in separate collisions in Hampshire.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision at the junction of Southern Road and Moorhill Road in West End this morning (Tuesday 18 February).

Hampshire Constabulary was called to the collision involving a grey Vauxhall Insignia and a Yamaha 900 motorbike by South Central Ambulance Service just after 8.45am.

The 50-year-old woman riding the motorbike was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries but later died.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information should contact Sergeant Rob Heard from the Road Death Investigation Team at Eastleigh on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, British Transport Police are investigating after a woman was hit and killed by a train at Crampmoor Lane near Romsey this morning.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said:

“BTP officers were called to Crampmoor Lane crossing, Romsey, on Tuesday 18 February following a report that a person had been hit by a train.

“BTP and Hampshire Constabulary officers attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 10.18am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from South Central Ambulance Service also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person and inform their family.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
