The Transport Secretary is visiting Gosport today (Monday 11 November) to talk about ways to help one of the south coast's biggest problem areas for congestion.
Patrick McLoughlin (pictured) has been invited to the peninsula by local MP Caroline Dinenage.
Caroline says she wants to show him first-hand the problems drivers have to endure on a daily basis. She will also introduce him to key local officials in order to discuss potential solutions, such as a Stubbington Bypass.
The visit will also give Caroline the opportunity to show the Secretary of State the successful Network Rail apprentice training programme at HMS Sultan, as well as the expanding Maritime and Coastguard Agency base at Daedalus.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Caroline said:
"The transport infrastructure is such a major issue in our area and I've worked hard since my election to raise this with my ministerial colleagues.
"I'm delighted that the Secretary of State has accepted my invitation to visit Gosport, it will be really useful for him to see our transport problems up close, along with discussing potential solutions."
Monday's meeting comes off the back of Transport Minister Norman Baker's visit to Gosport in March and the £8.5million package to enhance Newgate Lane.
