Swastika Scrawled On War Memorial

Police are looking for vandals who scrawled a swastika on the Cenotaph in Southampton.

It's thought the war memorial was vandalised sometime over the weekend. It's now been cleaned off.

Councillor Royston Smith, Leader of Southampton City Council, said:

"This is a deplorable and despicable act and behaviour that demonstrates a complete and utter lack of respect for Southampton's fallen heroes.

"We will work tirelessly with the police to bring whoever is responsible to justice and will seek a prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. We have organised a specialist stone mason to repair the damage as soon as possible. I would urge anyone with any information on this to contact the police as soon as possible."
