Police in Southampton are investigating a robbery where a man reported that he was forced to withdraw £250 from a cash machine.
It happened in Bedford Place early on the morning of Thursday 12 June.
The 20-year-old was approached at the junction with Carlton Place at just after 1.50am by a man he described as:
- In his mid-twenties.
- Around 5ft 7ins tall.
- Medium build.
- Local accent.
- Wearing a white baseball cap, a dark fronted hooded top with the grey hood pulled over his baseball cap, black trousers, and a small black duffle style bag with thin rope straps over both shoulders.
The victim said he was escorted to the cash machine at McColls Newsagent, before the man took the cash. The man was seen walking off across Bedford Place into the car park and then into Wilton Avenue towards Milton Road.
PC Chris Orr who is investigating said:
"Were you in the Bedford Place area early last Thursday morning and did you see this man? Who is he? Was he with anyone else? This is a time when many people were leaving clubs and pubs and getting taxis home.
"Please consider walking home with friends to prevent lone people becoming victims of crime and where possible use city registered taxis."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Chris Orr at Shirley police station on 101 or via the website http://www.hampshire.police.uk/internet/do-it-online/online-forms/message-for-officer.html
