Pony's Lake Death An Accident

Hampshire Police are still investigating the death of a pony at Hawley Lake in Farnborough - but now think it wasn't deliberately killed.

The animal died at around 5pm on Saturday July the 9th, after a group of 12 people with three ponies and traps gathered there.

Hampshire police received conflicting stories about what happened, but now say they think the pony died in an accident.

A 21-year-old man who tried to rescue the animal was injured when it kicked him and he was treated at Frimley Park Hospital.

Chief Inspector Sarah Jackson said:

"There would have been a number of people around at the time, including dog walkers, runners, cyclists, fishermen and other members of the public.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area of Hawley Lake at the time, heard or saw what took place at the lake, or who has any information about this incident to contact us as soon as possible.''
