Police Investigate Fight In Portsmouth

Detectives have started an investigation after reports of a fight involving a group of men in Portsmouth.

Police were called to Commercial Road outside Ken’s Fried Chicken shortly after 3.30am on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

A 22-year-old man from Petersfield was found with head and facial injuries.

He went to hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home. Detective Inspector Christopher Parry of Portsmouth CID said: “The exact circumstances surrounding how this man was injured remain unclear.

“A group of men were seen by police officers when they arrived at the scene, but no formal allegations of a crime have been made so far.

“However, we believe a fight and an assault has taken place, possibly linked to people leaving bars and clubs nearby in the Commercial Road area.

“Therefore, I am appealing for independent witnesses to come forward with any information about a fight or assault they may have seen in the area between 3am and 3.30am on Sunday.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID at Fratton police station by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
