Police are trying to trace witnesses after two men were assaulted in Elm Grove, Southsea on Sunday February 23.

It happened close to Tesco and the Honest Politician pub at around half past midnight.

Two men, aged 21 and 25, were assaulted by a group of seven or eight other men. The group of men were all white and dressed in smart casual clothes; one may have had a beard.

PC Jodie Lawford who is investigating said: “This appears to be unprovoked and occurred as the two men were simply walking home after enjoying an evening out.

“One suffered a suspected broken nose and black eyes.”

She added: “This is a busy road and it’s likely that there were people in the area at the time who may have seen something.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Lawford at Fratton by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101. If you wish to remain anonymous, phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
