Travelodge’s first hotel in the heart of Eastleigh town centre has been officially opened.
The 60-room property represents a £3.4 million investment and has created 15 new jobs.
The brand new hotel is located on Southampton Road.
Eastleigh Central Travelodge is a new build hotel and is part of a mixed-use development scheme with other retailers. The hotel is centrally located opposite the town’s train station which links London and Southampton, making it an ideal base for leisure and business travellers.
Eastleigh Central Travelodge is being managed by long serving staff member Mary Shepherd. Mary has been working with Travelodge for over ten years and started her career at Southampton Stoneycross Travelodge in 2002. Since then, Mary has managed four hotels in the Hampshire region and has now been given this brand new £3.4million hotel to manage.
The hotel’s new team of 15 staff members have all been recruited via the Job Centre Plus Scheme – which helps the long term unemployed back into work. As part of their induction training staff members undertook a comprehensive four week training programme at a nearby Travelodge hotel.
They also attended a sleep seminar to ensure they are fully equipped to ensure their customers get a good night’s sleep.
