Police are searching for a mountain bike thought to have been used in an armed robbery at a Hampshire Post Office.
The robbery happened at about 9am on Friday 14 June when a man threatened staff with a gun in the post office on Hampton Lane in Blackfield, near Southampton.
Now police are appealing for anyone to get in contact who saw a man on a grey mountain bike last Friday anytime between 8-10am travelling between Blackfield and Holbury. They are also trying to trace the whereabouts of a graphite grey Carrera Subway mountain bike and are asking for anyone who thinks they may have been offered the cycle for sale or who has come into possession of it to get in touch.
Since Friday a large team of police officers have been working on the case and a man has been charged with committing the robbery.
Michael Grieve, 24, of Whitefield Road, Southampton, has also been charged with one count of burglary and possession of a firearm with the intention to commit an indictable offence.
Commander for the New Forest, Chief Inspector Tony Rowlinson said: “Since the armed robbery happened officers have been working hard on this case and we have put a lot of our resources into investigating this crime. This has led us to the arrest and charge.
“We won’t tolerate this kind of crime in our area and nor will the community.
“I have been really pleased with the help we have had from local people with this investigation. It’s good to have the community working with us and I would like to thank all those who have assisted us so far. I’d encourage anyone with any further information for us to get in contact".
Anyone with information are asked to contact Lyndhurst CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
